About

UR’s Lavender Living Community is a student-initiated community designed to provide an affirming space in residential life for returning LGBTQ+ students and allies. Our aim is to foster wellness, encourage openness, and support LGBTQ+ community-building initiatives both on and off campus.

What does it entail?

Students will live together in a block of rooms in Lakeview Hall.  Your participation in the community also includes:

  • A Lavender Living welcome bag with t-shirt and goodies
  • A kickoff pizza party the first week of the semester
  • Monthly communal meals cooked by rotating groups of Lavenders (3/semester)
  • Service outings to LGBTQ+ local organizations (once/semester)
  • Off-campus outings to an LGBTQ+ event or program (once/semester)
  • Private workshops and meet & greets with LGBTQ+ speakers on campus
  • Friendships that will last a lifetime!

Can I study abroad?

Yes, you can study abroad for one semester and live in the Lavender Living Community for the other semester. There is a question on the interest form where you can indicate this.

Note: Unfortunately, housing cannot be guaranteed for students who are studying abroad in the Fall and returning to campus for the Spring. However, we still encourage you to submit your interest form, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
